Day 1: San Jose - La Managua Airport, Quepos
Flight on to the Quepos Plains. Once In La Managua Airport we head
north to the Alto Quepos Highlands Forest Reserve and Cerro el Dragon
(Dragon Peak 11,000’). Arrive at the Alto Quepos Lodge located
in the rich cloud forest where you will spend the night.
Day 2: Trek to Alto Quepos Mountain Base Camp
Depart in the morning to begin trekking into Alto Quepos Forest
Reserve. Today you hike in three stages as you ascend the mountain,
eating snacks and lunch before arrival to camp by midday. Overnight
Shelter in base camp.
Day 3: Summit of El Dragon!
Arise early to begin trekking to the summit of Mt. El Dragon before
the fog rolls in. If clear, the view to the Pacific is stunning.
It’s about a 1 ½ to 2 hour ascent before descending
to Parritilla Gorge. Hike to Cerro A and Cerro B reaching camp around
early afternoon. Overnight shelter in the El Dragon Forest Reserve.
Day 4: Back to Basecamp
Continue hiking to La Guaria Waterfalls descending from Santa Maria
through the San Joaquin Road. Hike out and have lunch in Naranjillo
de Tarrazu. Check in Cabins. Overnight. 
Day 5: Alto Quepos Gorge
Depart on the scenic trail through the Alto Quepos Forest and Naranjillo
River.. Your guide will share his knowledge of traditional medicinal
uses of the rain forest on a guided hike in the surrounding area
of the lodge. Overnight: Alto Quepos Tent Camp.
Day 6: Esquipulas
Eat breakfast before departing. Hike the downhill trail of Mount
El Diamante to Esquipulas and Quepos Plains. Flight back to San
Jose. Drop off at hotel.
