Four-Wheeling Alto Quepos Mountain Area: This land has dozens of respectable mountains and creeks, from Paso Real River cross to San Joaquin La guaria Upper Naranjillo River Basin more than 30 miles away. In addition to these two prime spots, try a turn at El Pito Mountain Pass, Bajo Quebrada Honda, Naranjillo Valley and El Diamante Mountain. Or, find your own secret spot. Battling a Billfish Off the Pacific Coast: Billfish are plentiful all along Costa Rica's Pacific coast, and boats operate from Playa del Coco to Playa Zancudo. Costa Rican anglers hold world records for both blue marlin and Pacific sailfish. Go to Quepos (just outside Manuel Antonio) for the best après-fish scene, or head down to Drake Bay, the Osa Peninsula, or Golfo Dulce, if you want some isolation.
